Lots and lots of eye candy here. Jessica and Joshua were married by a Cardinal at Santa Maria in Trastevere, one of the most important and beautiful Catholic basilicas in Christendom. Style Me Pretty called their dessert table “possibly the best dessert table of all time”.
Absolutely everything about this wedding was a feast for the eyes. And so on this beautiful day in July the bride, resplendent in her
Vera Wang gown clicked her glass beaded slippers and all their dreams came true.
The basilica (cathedral) of Santa Maria in Trastevere dates back to 1143 and is considered one of the 7 most important basilicas in Rome. That may not sound so impressive until you consider that Rome has over 800 Catholic churches and this is the favorite of most people I know who live here. It is famous for the gold mosaics from the 1200’s on the ceiling and covering most of the back wall behind the altar. In addition the mosaics on the floor date back to the original period, about 1100, and are quite stunning. Indulge me if I dwell on the gorgeous photos of the church, the ceremony was just breathtaking.
The couple made their getaway in a two seater, convertible white Jaguar from the 1960’s. Right after being pronounced husband and wife they had some time alone together while driving to the castle and enjoying the few minutes of calm before the festivities kicked into high gear again once they arrived at the castle for the reception.
The castle is inside the Rome city limits and features beautiful gardens abundant with roses and exotic citrus trees.
Since the bride is of Chinese Indonesian ancestry, it was very important to her family to include the Chinese tea service in the wedding day. The guests gathered on the lower lawn while the bride and groom served tea on bended knee to the elders of their families as a show of respect and honor. There were Chinese acrobatic lions entertaining the guests and setting the tone for the festivities.
The escort card table was draped in rose gold sequins. A pink agate with the bottom dipped in gold held a calligraphied card with each guest’s name and table assignment.
The dessert buffet was absolutely stunning displaying both the wedding cake as well as a vast assortment of finely decorated cakes, cookies, cupcakes and assorted candied almonds. Each one exquisite and delicious. Truly a labor of love.

Alas while this was the end of an amazing celebration it was not the beginning. Click HERE to see the photos from the welcome dinner hosted the evening before to welcome all the guests who had arrived from far and wide to celebrate the wedding of Jennifer and Joseph. It was a fun and casual evening and a great way to break the ice among the 120 guests, many of whom were getting to know each other for the first time.
