The perfect beginning to a magical wedding weekend.

Newly arrived in Florence, the guests gathered for a welcome dinner that featured a stunning view of central Florence and the surrounding hills. What a way to say hello while watching the sun set over the Duomo of Florence. sigh!

The guests flew into Florence from all over Europe and New York. Aurelia, the bride, is from Edinburg while the groom is from Poland. They chose Florence because It was the bride’s dream of having their wedding day there. I had taken them to 5 locations but when they saw the castle they fell in love with it.

One of the benefits of a wedding in Florence is that the guests have more of an independent experience. During the days they can be on their own with free time to explore the treasures that Florence has to offer.  Then in the evenings everyone comes together for the dinners, events and celebrations. So it has a little of both.

The welcome dinner featured an Italian folk duo that serenaded the couple and their guests throughout the dinner with Italian standards. A buffet is a good idea for a welcome dinner. It gets the guests up and moving around. This provides them with the opportunity to meet and greet and be more social with a wider group than if they were seated for a served dinner the whole time. An ample buffet of antipasti, pastas and porchetta was served. A gelato cart featuring handmade organic gelato topped off the evening in style. The whole evening was just stunning and the perfect way to begin the wedding festivities. see the wedding day HERE.
